Rocks and Stones

“We have forgotten what rocks and plants still know – we have forgotten how to be – to be still – to be ourselves – to be where life is here and now.”

~Eckhart Tolle
I paint rocks and stones because of their apparent simplicity and strength.

Painting rocks allows me to invent a lot of different brushstrokes and textures, some very bold and full of energy, others quieter and more subdued.

I love mixing colors especially graying all of them a little to achieve my own palette.

Rocks and stones to me represent eternity and everything that endures the passage of time. They symbolize the passage of one life to the next. Many different cultures use stone to represent the divine and ever lasting life.

Rocks are timeless.
